Judges and riders please note that riders are allowed into the competition arena immediately the previous rider has passed through the finish pegs.
While judges are writing collectives from previous horse the next rider may warmup, in and around the obstacles. When the judge has finished writing and your penciller is ready to go, they will note your number, the judge will ring the bell and the rider has one minute to start the course.
It is not necessary to wait at the entrance to the arena. (this is not good for the horse to stand immobile waiting, sometimes for long periods). Riders please be aware if the judge is on a break you may not enter the arena more than 2 minutes before your start time This is also applicable to your dressage test, riders need not stop and talk to judge, the rider is to ride past, and the judge or penciller will note the riders number.
The above is applicable also if the OC do not use numbers, however riders must keep an eye on the judge and when they have finished writing, report immediately to give your name. Over a day this saves a lot of time and helps the day to run smoothly for all. NB riders will be eliminated if they face up to an obstacle ostensibly while on course.
e.g. riders must NOT approach an obstacle in a way that mimic’s or replicates the negotiation of that obstacle, or stop or walk close to any obstacle, allowing the horse to desensitise. Furthermore riders must not pass through any obstacle whatsoever including transition markers, flags etc.

Chris Fowles
PS Organising committees please note that EA NSW will issue a bridle number free of charge.
